Need to prevent chrome from more than one instance

How can I keep chrome from more than one instance (main window)

agreed...another similar browser offers "allow only one instance" option, so if you click on the program to run it, only the existing loaded program pops up...I like that, not having multiple instances running....

I don't think you can stop the second instance if you are click/double-click the program to run it again, at this time.

was hoping that would work but it did not work for me. After setting mem opt as you state, closed the browser, reopened....

then clicked on the program icon in my taskbar and another windows/session was started.and a third, fourth, etc as I clicked the program.

We are suggesting when user clicks the program icon, the existing open windows, not more windows.....(at least that's how I interpreted the original post).

This is common behavior of Chrome/Firefox/Edge.
May I know why You want to keep only one instance?

Why bother having tabbed browser if I'd want multiple windows open? For me, neater to keep all browser info in that 1 window....personal preference....! btw, it's not a big deal for me, just a preference. Can't speak for Budi.
