No. 64-bit has same issue: missing text on some sites, when page in background for some time (3-5 min). Is it possible to fix? Cent v4.1.7.182, Windows 7 (64-bit)

Yes, DirectWrite is perfect enough now.
Or you may upgrade your OS to Windows 10 version 1909 and try disabling DirectWrite.

I'm still on 3.0.4 because it was the last version that had properly rendered text with DirectWrite off.

The browser UI displays correctly. Website text displays correctly.  Nothing is missing or broken or anything.  It's the last version before all the issues, be it just the general look of the text on Chrome (Cent) UI, or problems with rendering on websites.

Almost an entire year has passed waiting for updates ontop of the entire year waiting for fixes since the versions above 3.0.x.  Heck, here's when I last came here to check: "Welcome back, DAOWAce. You last visited: 02-15-2019, 01:54 AM"

I'm also still on Win10 v1703 because of technical problems in 1709 and UI changes in every version after (notably dark mode overhaul ruining Windows Explorer).  1909 makes me want to break something.  I'm also on Ryzen 3000 series now, and I need to update to have Windows properly use the CPU. I'm at a performance deficit, and that's still not enough to get me to update solely due to the user experience.

I don't know why it's so hard for companies to stop enforcing changes on users.  One size does NOT fit all and user choice has to be the #1 priority in a consumer application.

Anyway, it's sad to see there's still DirectWrite problems in Cent.  At this point, it's looking more like I'm going to bite the bullet and switch to Vivaldi and just try to deal with it, been dual using both browsers for a while now (Vivaldi as just a quick "I need to look this up fast" one, or what I use if a site is broken).  My old version of Cent is just suffering massive issues which are fixed in either later versions of the application, or Windows itself (example: UI updating on 3440x1440 resolution is very slow, long pauses when resizing or opening/closing tabs fixed in later Win10 versions). But, of course, updating either results in a worse user experience due to UI changes.

I'm still going to try the latest version after a year of updates to see just how things are, but as of right now, I'm just quite sad.

DirectWrite issue is very hard to be fixed, and sometimes we need a lot of time to reproduce it.
On Windows 10, DW rendering almost have the same effect as non-DW now.

This feature was removed in 4.1 version because of Chromium change.
We will revert it in our 4.2 version.
