Just tried v5.0.1002.276:

I think this version has a memory exhaustion bug where half the extensions and chrome processes consume up to hundreds of megabytes for no reason. It happens right after you open the browser.

The only fix I have is to keep restarting the browser until it runs properly.

Have you tried safe mode in Alt+F menu?
If it works fine in safe mode, you can try disabling hardware acceleration or disabling all extensions in normal mode.
If the issue persists in safe mode, please try apending --no-sandbox to run the browser.
