I checked several browsers: SRWare Iron, Iridium, Brave. Each one I tested makes outgoing connections (CB too). This is something like User Statistics, Safe Browsing, etc.
If you feel insecure, you can map those domains to 127.0.0.1 in your HOSTS file.
