I remained on 4.0.9.102 to delay the inevitable. I'm dreading the buffering/loading animation though. It's unnecessary, and implemented terribly. Who cares if the state of the video is technically "buffering" if the video is still managing to play fine? There should be some stupid buffering animation over a video while it's playing? This happens frequently.
Some of the shadow DOM is manipulable by users, but that particular element isn't. I really hope you'll consider either eliminating it completely, or perhaps modifying the pseudo from:

so it could be affected by user CSS.
