After booting the PC this morning all the desktop icons were moved to the left. 
It was fine when I booted down last night.
This was before I'd even started Cent or anything else.
So, it may not be anything to do with Cent although after the desktop is restored Cent seems to be the only program that, after loading, messes up the desktop.
Weird!
