if you  want to get bigger icons back, go to chrome://flags/, find there "Material Design in the browser's top chrome" and change it to anything but Material.

Another thing that I really appreciate is that the bookmark folder icons are now light grey instead of that awful canary yellow.

grey folders are for material, yellow is still there for non-material. kinda like an option.]

Do you also have a problem with full screen on youtube where taskbar won't go away?

No, we have not yet encountered.
Seems this issue was not fully fixed.
You may add a comment to that bug or file a new one.
