some tweaks for the french translation :
1/ graphical glitches (translation too long, etc.)
Can you change the "Customize" string to right align ? this should avoid translations to go out of the window.
When the mouse is hovering a download, options appear (delete, copy address) , but as french is longer than other langages, it makes the line of the download bigger, which is really strange and makes the download window really choppy and glitchy (dancing the disco ?

We have made some changes to the setup dialog, you can check it again in the next version.
For the download window issue, it is somewhat annoying but we have no better idea.
Is it possible to make the translation strings shorter?

it's really hard to shorten anything here without losing in understandability
first, we should have some space if you use lowercase instead of uppercase (which should be nicer graphically, uppercase is really aggressive)
then, some strings can be shorten a little :
"Supprimer du disque" ---> "Supprimer"
"Afficher le dossier" ---> "Ouvrir le dossier"
alternative : use graphical icons instead of words...and use these strings for balloon tip when hovering an icon.
BTW, when downloading "dangerous" files (seriously, Chrome really thinks users are stupid ?!) like .EXE, .JS, the download window should pop by itself to ask user to confirm download.

Yes, we thought about this method.But there are already some elements using text ("Pause", "Cancel", "Show in folder" button).Whether we should change all buttons to images?
If true then we have to fully change the current layout otherwise it will be very ugly.And the second reason is text is more clear than image.
Maybe we should use context menu, but it is not as convenient as now.

The controlling option is "Protect you and your device from dangerous sites".
That warning is part of safe browsing.

I never used "Protect you and your device from dangerous sites" (unticked since the beginning) and CB (even on 1.9 builds) keeps asking me for those "dangerous" files
for the download list, it should not be that hard to find icons that can show all the actions needed
for example :
