RE: portability and "sensitive" files - patrickdrd - 05-31-2019 well, I'll be excluding the following files from both cent and chrome from sync copy between my computers and I hope I'll be (finally!) fine: \User Data\* \Cookies* \User Data\*\Extension Cookies* \User Data\*\Login Data* \User Data\*\Preferences \User Data\*\Secure Preferences \User Data\*\Sync Data \User Data\*\Web Data* I'll be taking a backup of cookies, preferences and secure preferences from each computer from time to time (or after a browser update maybe) web data (autofill) and login data (passwords) are synced, so I don't mind RE: portability and "sensitive" files - patrickdrd - 06-03-2019 meanwhile, I changed a powerline on my desktop computer and this resulted in a total mess: 1) all my chrome and cent browsers disconnected from sync on all 3 machines (desktop, laptop, work desktop), i.e. 3*2=6 browsers, 2) after signing in to sync again, my bookmarks became a mess too: many duplicates: 50 duplicates in one case, the order was changed in some and even a whole folder was duplicated! come on google, really??? just because I changed a powerline? why does your browser have to be so dependent on the machines? this is terrible implementation RE: portability and "sensitive" files - patrickdrd - 06-05-2019 I updated chrome on my laptop, sync on cent and chrome ok, I came at work and sync paused in both cent and chrome! their inability to fix a steady sync is amazing! Google services and chrome sync are binded together now. RE: portability and "sensitive" files - patrickdrd - 06-10-2019 these two are a good read why chrome isn't truly portable: https://portableapps.com/node/42637 https://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=23496 but I think that cent is losing in portability, I mean version 4.x is worse than 3.9 for some reason, I've got many "sync paused" messages lately, I had none with 3.9 I had posted, since the first beta there were problems, I wouldn't say that your browser is fully portable, only Firefox is truly portable, everything I do on it in one computer is transferred to another (every cookie without exception, every setting and every addon etc) RE: portability and "sensitive" files - Admini - 06-10-2019 (06-10-2019, 08:32 AM)patrickdrd Wrote: these two are a good read why chrome isn't truly portable: "sync paused" is related to a feature called "Account Consistency", it has nothing to do with portable version. RE: portability and "sensitive" files - patrickdrd - 06-10-2019 oops! I've just seen that #account-consistency is not disabled! strange, account consistency is "default" in chrome too, maybe they reset after an update? I'm pretty sure I had them both on disabled RE: portability and "sensitive" files - Admini - 06-10-2019 (06-10-2019, 01:12 PM)patrickdrd Wrote: oops! account-consistency can't be fully disabled from Chromium 74. For now you may try appending --cb-disable-account-consistency to "Startup command line", but we can't assure you this will work forever. |
