Hi. Can you give an approximate date of a new release?

RE: STABLE version -- 5.0.1002.295 - Cent portable - 03-02-2023

Hello Centbrowser,
Glad you are back.  I have a question about some *.tmp files written on my windows ssd in the Temp folder.  I'm running Cent portable on an external nvme ssd.  Does the standard (nonportable) installation also write these files ? - If I used some flags to point to my nvme (user-data-dir, disk-cache-dir) ?  My nvme is never moved to other computers, so the installation would always stay the same.
5.0.1002.295  - x64 portable
Windows 8.1
Thanks

If their name is GUID, this should be temporary file of downloading task.
Haven't researched in depth yet.
Seems this issue occurs only on Win7/8/8.1

RE: STABLE version -- 5.0.1002.295 - Cent portable - 03-03-2023

Hello,
Thanks for your response.
Here is more info about this error. I have not made any browser downloads - if that is what tasks you are talking about.
Currently there are 27 processes in task manager and 21 .tmp files in temp folder. If a tab is closed a file is removed.
Yes they are GUID format, and are removed after browser is closed.

It is weird if you didn't download anything.
Does this issue exist in safe mode(a command in Alt+F menu)?

RE: STABLE version -- 5.0.1002.295 - LuckyJim - 03-04-2023

I can confirm what @Cent portable said. Starting Cent Browser creates 5 *.tmp files in %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Temp.
Exiting Cent Browser removes the files. Restarting Cent in safe mode creates the files again.
I notice the same thing while using Edge, so I assume this is normal.

Running Win11 22H2 x64, Cent v5.0.1002.295 x64 Portable.

RE: STABLE version -- 5.0.1002.295 - Cent portable - 03-04-2023

Hello,
I thought I'd check out my question "Does the standard (nonportable) installation also write these files ?" myself, so I installed centbrowser_5.0.1002.295_x64.exe.
The installer did not work on my computer - a different problem. I'll try to attach the log file.  I extracted the chrome.7z file to a small partition on another drive, and centbrowser worked from that drive.
I ran cent from safemode, same as @LuckyJim, and the files are still created in my temp folder. This is sounding like a chromium error rather than OS.
If Cent is not writing alot - thrashing my ssd - I guess its not a big problem.
.txt   centbrowser_installer.log.txt (Size: 6 KB / Downloads: 227)

On 2 or 3 occasions I've seen one of the *.tmp files grow from 0 to 43 KB but that's all. Just started downloading iCue and they didn't change in size. So I don't think there's much writing on the SSD.
The cache though is another matter. That's where all the thrashing takes place. Good thing I moved mine to the HDD.

Any chance of integration with GPT in a future update?

Hello, can you consider adding user agent change feature and also add option to retrieve and auto set latest chrome stable useragent?
