[Suggestion] Pull Native Theme/Dark Mode code - JenN - 01-18-2019

Chromium recently added a 'native' theme that will copy which color mode you are using on your Windows 10 OS, along with the special launch parameter -force-dark-mode to put it into dark mode regardless. This would be amazingly good for my eyes.

You can find the code here, please add it in ASAP: https://github.com/chromium/chromium/blob/56b8adb28aa8cc490910e67f98fa1f4f1ae2a55b/ui/native_theme/native_theme.cc#L54

Hell yeah. Dark mode please.

Just to clarify, this is better than typical themes you can get off the Google extension store because it'll give a dark theme to the default internal pages, like the Settings page.

I get what it is, and I need it in my life. =)

This feature is not finished yet.
I guess it will be launched in Chromium 75/76.

If it's not finished, it's not finished, but the Chromium team tends to drag their feet on options like this, even once they're good to go. Hopefully you guys pull the trigger on implementing it quicker, if that becomes the case.

Yes, we will quickly follow up then.

Please save my eyes.

Waiting for this feature, you can use:
  • Windows 10 Dark theme, for tabs and titlebar (it's one between a lot, choose the theme you want)
  • Dark Reader extension, for the content
For now, internal pages like Settings, Home and Extensions are not supported but this stills covers 95% of the use.

Seems --force-dark-mode partially works in Chrome 72.
