STABLE version -- 4.3.9.248
There have been signs of life. CentBrowser was on the 22nd, and suddenly half this thread was deleted, mostly Taba. In fact, Taba has been banned, it seems.

They (or a mod (not sure)) shown a little bit of life recently by finally banning taba and cleaning up this thread a tiny bit xD but yes, I do wish there was more life here from the developers and wish that there was an update to the browser as I would love to go back to using centbrowser again :/

oh finally taba is gone, good riddance! somehow this ban feels better than an update from the devs

Hi,

after a long time of "freestyle", enough is enough, I decided to make a lot of cleaning here.

taba is banned for a month, so he could use this time to :
  • stop insulting people
  • stop shit posting
  • learn how to RESPECT ALL members
  • (religion, sexual preferences, etc. have nothing to do here)
Next time, this gonna be a perm-ban if he doesn't want to understand how to talk between civilized people

BTW, I'm only moderator on this forum, nothing else. I'm not part of the Centbrowser team, so this is not a sign of an upcoming update of our beloved browser.
I'm myself a big fan of this browser, I'm sad to see that updates are less and less often, and I really hope to see more updates coming, soon or later.

Still waiting, quietly... Undecided

Well, a moderator has finally appeared. How much dirt and shit was poured here! And about updates - put yourself in the shoes of a developer who is insulted, humiliated and doused with shit, will you want to do something for such freaks? Advice to the moderator, cattle who are sophisticated in foul language need to be banned permanently, there is no benefit from them, but there is a lot of shit. The forum has turned into a public toilet. In general - do as you see fit, but do not allow to insult and use foul language.

If it didn't take going on seven months to update the browser because the dev's pride disallows them from asking for help and getting others to work on the browser, then we wouldn't be getting frustrated and annoyed.

Notice how everyone stops bothering the dev after an actual update drops? But seven months in the browser world is ridiculous.

I know I took time to react, but my job here, at first, was only to remove spambots. I'm here everyday, and as nothing was made to stop trolling (every day, on every message) I decided to take my role more "seriously". (Yes, I should have took that decision earlier)

I hope we can now talk, peacefully, politely, between civilized people, about Centbrowser  Wink

And I really hope some words from the team, this silence is so deafening...

If the developer(s) do not want to continue the project or do not have time to deal with it, then at least post the source code on GitHub, so that the project was taken by someone or a team who care about the project. But do not kill the browser like this.

I seriously doubt Cent code would end up on GitHub or anywhere like it. The devs have been so secretive/protective of Cent's code that they've refused all offers of outside help, to the point where it's to the detriment of the product itself. They seem quite steadfast in making sure no one else views the code, for whatever reason...

Nice idea if Cent is truly dead to keep the project alive elsewhere, but I really can't see it.

I completely agree with you.

As you said, the development team is adamant about not letting anyone see the code, and they are on the verge of killing the browser itself. But we have no choice but to keep trying to convince them.

Maybe they don't have the skills to keep up with Chrome, maybe they can't find the time, or maybe they've already lost motivation, but in any case, if they can only update it once or twice a year, I don't think the development team will be bothered if it gets forked already.
Alternatively, it's time to release the code and prove that there is no malware-like code in it. (I can't think of any other reason why I would not want my code to be seen to this extent).

Hopefully, the development team will make a wise decision.

I have not been able to switch to Slimjet for the following reasons.

SlimJet is missing the following
  • Restore button for closed tabs
  • Download button and download list
  • Mute toggle button
  • Screenshot button

  • Always open tabs in the background
  • Tab list button (removed in the new version of slimjet and replaced by chrome's tab search button)
When cent is updated in the future, I would very much like the tab list button to remain.
  • Choice of behavior, such as
  1. Show bookmarks                      >New foreground tab
  2. Show home page                      >New foreground tab
  3. Display of search results            >New foreground tab
  4. Display when typing a URL        >New background tab
  5. New tab position                      >After the current tab group
  6. when current tab is closed          >Automatic selection
  7. When closing the last tab          >insert a new tab without changing the window
  8. Middle click on tab                    >Reload tab
  9. Click middle button on tab bar    >Restore last closed tab

These behavior choices are essential to me.
  • Super Drag
  • Enable lazy loading of the session at startup

It is hard to get these in extensions, and in many cases, they are not in extensions.
  • Material icons (somehow kept the prehistoric icons.)

Useful features present in SlimJet
  • Drag and drop text to search
  • search box
  • Side Tab Bar
  • Drag and drop a link to open a new tab
  • Click on a program shortcut to open it in a new window

Drag text and link, side tab-bar
These are all very tempting, but...
